Eligibility Checklist

Employer-specific work permit:

• Valid job offer

• LMIA or LMIA-exempt offer

Open work permit:

• Available in limited categories (spouses, PGWP spouses, IEC, refugees, etc.)

• Must meet admissibility and health requirements

English Language Requirement

Not required by IRCC, but employers may request proof.

• Show ability to support yourself

• Employer must pay prevailing wage

• Some open work permit categories require proof of funds
